Pansa in Israel for international engagements
KKL Italia Onlus completed the planting of a forest in memory of the former Police Chief Antonio Manganelli, who died in Rome on 20th March 2013.
Current Police Chief Alessandro Pansa reached Israel today to pay homage to this symbolic gesture, attending the ceremony together with Manganelli's spouse. Also the President of the Senate Pietro Grasso, currently on an official visit to Israel, was in attendance.
Antonio Manganelli was a sincere friend of the Jewish Communities in Italy and the State of Israel. During his term as Police Chief he demonstrated a strong commitment to guaranteeing the security of Jewish institutions and their Italian representatives.
"I'm honoured and delighted to have completed this project in memory of Antonio, who was also a personal friend", said the President of KKL Italia Onlus Raffaele Sassun. "I had several opportunities to discuss with him various issues concerning Italy and Israel, and this helped me get new perspectives. This forest is the best way to honour his memory, a living monument that is good for the environment, as Manganelli's work was good for the community."
The forest was planted in Shaar Hagai, near Jerusalem, within Yitzhak Rabin Park, next to the forest in memory of Nasiriyah's victims.
