A Technical Protocol against organised crime
Prefect Alessando Pansa met the Chief of the Polish Police General Marek Dzialoszynski this morning in Warsaw where they signed a technical protocol against organised crime.
The signing took place in the presence of Ambassador De Pedys and Deputy Police Chief Francesco Cirillo.
The agreement identifies the points of contacts between the two countries and sets out the working rules, improving cooperation through the creation of an Italian-Polish task force to tackle criminal organisations in both countries.
However, it is worth mentioning that the relations between the Italian and Polish police forces are already characterized by a constant activity of information sharing and analysis, as well as by joint operations and mutual legal assistance in the execution of letters rogatory.
Today, Prefect Pansa also visited Frontex headquarters in Warsaw. This week Frontex experts completed the preparatory stage of operation "Triton". which will start its activity on November 1, 2014. "Agencies such as Frontex can help opt for a pro-European approach rather than a parochial one", said the Italian Police Chief. "Triton is the largest border control operation ever undertaken," continued Prefect Pansa, "with the participation of many countries. Sea border controls cannot be carried out by patrol vessels only, they require a big organisational effort, including information gathering and migrants' reception issues. Therefore, in addition to naval and air assets, human and technical resources are also needed. The omens are good".
