Paris: European Railway police meeting
The Italian Railway Police took part in a meeting in Paris within the framework of RAILPOL, the international network for railway police cooperation.
It was a meeting of the Working Group "Crime and illegal immigration" consisting of 15 representatives of the European railway police forces.
The aim of the Working Group is to exchange information and best practices, aimed to develop common strategies against railway crime.
The Working Group also organizes common actions called 24Blue Rail Action Days. During 24 hours RAILPOL member countries carry out preventive checks in stations and on trains.
During the meeting, participants exchanged information on the new strategies adopted and on crime trends, including copper theft and illegal immigration. The analysis of the information will help guide and focus the countries' efforts in fighting crime phenomena.
