Agenti della polizia stradale parlano agli studentiThe final results of the Icarus Project (Inter-Cultural Approaches for Road Users Safety) are presented this morning and tomorrow at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels.

The project, which was launched by the Italian Minister of the Interior Roberto Maroni, the Chief of the Italian Police Antonio Manganelli and the European Commission Vice President Antonio Tajani in 2009, aims to set up a European network of researchers, trainers and police officers to identify risk profiles in young drivers.

The research program proposed jointly by the Italian Traffic Police and the Rome University "La Sapienza" involved 14 countries and identified different driving styles and wrong driver behaviours through practical training and simulation techniques, over a period of 30 months.

Also the movie "Young Europe" was made as part of the program. It is based on risky behaviors of young drivers, as emerged from the research work, and was filmed in France, Ireland, Italy and Slovenia.

The movie tells the story of three carefree young people, Josephine in Paris, Julian in Donegal (Ireland), and Federico in Rome, whose lives were changed by the brutal experience of a car crash.
